Systemic thinking

Jumping to a sub-system level helps to identify harmful interactions. Conversely, jumping to a super-system level (the level of a mill or a corporation) makes it possible to involve resources of a different scale: if the super-system is interested in finding a solution, it can simplify the problem solving process significantly, since changes of a bigger scale become possible.
